Learning about polar animals.

Students worked in centers (walrus art, walrus writing and walrus blubber science demo) here is some pics of students learning about blubber and how a polar animal stays insulated. The experiment calls for Crisco, ice, and two baggies. Students place their hands in ice first "it's cold!" And then they place their hands in ziplock freezer bag that is insulated (on the outside) by Crisco. The Crisco simulated the blubber of the Walrus "it's warm!"
